We believe the future of AI is one in which data is ethically sourced and if it is monetised then people who provided it, should be rewarded for it.
The data generated from our voting activity is open source, but the AI models we create could be very valuable. If they are, it will be because of the data that has gone into them and those people should own it.
As part of this experiment we will be exploring new mechanisms for directly rewarding those who share rich context data to the model. As a community we will explore these new business models with full consent from the community.
The first of these experiments is called “Vote Mining”. By participating in the experiment Londoners will receive “tickets”. These can be thought of as tickets in a digital raffle with the possibility of winning a cryptocurrency prize sent directly to their wallets in the application.
The number of tickets that the participants receive will be directly linked to the amount of high quality data that they share with the app. If they participate in a vote, if they use all of their voting credits and importantly, if they provide more natural language feedback, they will receive more tickets.
At the end of the vote a provably fair number will be drawn that will correlate to a number range that each Londoner holds based on the amount of tickets that they have earned by voting in the app.
If this experiment works, we anticipate that it can grow into a new mechanism that rewards people for directly contributing to AI data sets.
